Academy Award-winning actress Sandra Bullock will accept the award for “Favorite Humanitarian” at PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS 2013, to be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, Wednesday, Jan. 9 (9:00-11)(9:live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.
The People’s Choice Awards will honor Sandra Bullock with the first-ever award for “Favorite Humanitarian” for her generous philanthropic efforts throughout her career, specifically her ongoing commitment to Warren Easton High School in New Orleans following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Sandra Bullock adopted Warren Easton Charter High School less than six months after Hurricane Katrina closed the heavily damaged building. She has contributed funds for college scholarships for graduating seniors, band uniforms, athletic equipment and has helped fund the renovation to the auditorium and the construction of a school-based health clinic. To celebrate these efforts, Bullock will be presented with a custom Waterford Crystal trophy during PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS 2013.
A by-the-book Federal agent. A take-no-prisoners Boston detective. Forced to work together to bust a drug ring. It’s the tried and true buddy-cop formula from movies like Lethal Weapon, 48 HRS., and The Other Guys, but director Paul Feig is hoping to prove once again that the ladies can do anything as well as the guys can. In 2011, Feig helped a party of Bridesmaids led by Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy crash the box office to the tune of $169 million, trashing the notion that you need a Y-chromosome to score R-rated hilarity. In The Heat, out in April, Feig and McCarthy are raising the stakes even higher, recruiting Sandra Bullock to bust some crooks in an R-rated action-comedy.
In the new trailer McCarthy and Bullock’s characters get off on the wrong foot, but pity the perp who crosses them — especially if he weighs more than they can lift. Feig tells EW about reuniting with McCarthy, what ’80s buddy-cop movie was The Heat‘s real inspiration, and how the movie will showcase another side to America’s Sweetheart Sandra Bullock.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Nice trailer. Now which one was Cagney and which was Lacey?
PAUL FEIG: Exactly. It’s a whole new twist, my friend. No, I’m really proud of it because the irony is doing a green-band trailer is kinda hard. We’re definitely a good R-rated movie. But the first trailer definitely gives you a feel for these characters and the chemistry between them. These two actresses are just so funny together. Now they’re like best friends in real life, so the chemistry just comes through.
Check out the amazing new trailer for “The Heat”, starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCartney:
Uptight and straight-laced, FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) is a methodical investigator with a reputation for excellence–and hyper-arrogance. Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy), one of Boston P.D.’s “finest,” is foul-mouthed and has a very short fuse, and uses her gut instinct and street smarts to catch the most elusive criminals. Neither has ever had a partner, or a friend for that matter. When these two wildly incompatible law officers join forces to bring down a ruthless drug lord, they become the last thing anyone expected: buddies. From Paul Feig, the director of “Bridesmaids.”
Finally some good news regarding ‘Gravity’! The FilmStage has tweeted earlier this month that MPAA ratings has arrived for the film:
Gravity rated PG-13 for intense perilous sequences, some disturbing images and brief strong language.
We are now wondering if a release date is near, since MPAA ratings are only given when the film is nearly complete. The first test screening was back in May and a few days later WB has moved the movie to a vague 2013 release. Maybe now with the MPAA ratings we can have good news!
Last October 15th Sandy appeared on Chelsea Lately in a way we didn’t expected: naked. In a skit, Bullock surprises Handler while she’s in the staff showers of her “fancy new studio,” tells Handler to stop calling herself the “white Oprah” and lectures her while both women remain completely naked.
