In Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (2011) an adaptation from a Jonathan Safran – Foer Novel, she was the wife of Tom Hanks (Cast Away) and the mother of a kid who lost his father in the 11/9 attacks of the World Trade Center. Now, this kid has to find a key his father left him, a wonderful and powerful movie with inspiring, sad and shocking moments. She plays alongside Jeffrey Wright (Casino Royale), John Goodman (flight) and Max Von Sydow (The Exorcist).

On 2013, she starred a movie with Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaid) called The Heat, a funny and interesting comedy movie. This movie is about a really firm and know-it-all FBI Agent who has to work alongside a careless and intimidating detective (McCarthy) to solve a really dangerous drug case.
